Recently, the Academic Committee Meeting of the Key Laboratory of Pressure Systems and Safety (Ministry of Education) and the Launch Meeting of the National Natural Science Foundation Innovative Research Group Project were held in Shanghai.
More than 20 experts attended the meeting, including: Chen Xuedong, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Director of the Laboratory’s Academic Committee; Li Yinghong, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor at Air Force Engineering University; Liu Sheng, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor at Wuhan University; Zheng Jinyang, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor at Zhejiang University; Yan Jinyue, Academician of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts and Professor at KTH Royal Institute of Technology; Ye Xin, Director of the Engineering Science Division II, Department of Engineering and Materials Science, National Natural Science Foundation of China; as well as experts from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Wuhan University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, China United Gas Turbine Technology Co., Ltd., China Nuclear Engineering Group Corporation, and other domestic and international research institutions. They gathered in Shanghai to provide guidance and suggestions for the development of the Key Laboratory of Pressure Systems and Safety (Ministry of Education) and the launch and implementation of the Innovative Research Group Project. President Xuan Fuzhen, Academician Tu Shandong, Academician Wang Hualin, and core members of the Laboratory and the Innovative Research Group attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Jia Yunfei, Deputy Director of the Institute of Science and Technology Development at the university.
In his opening speech, President Xuan Fuzhen welcomed and thanked the attending experts, briefly introduced the university’s progress in “Double First-Class” construction and overall development over the past year, and expressed gratitude for the experts’ intellectual guidance in ensuring the smooth implementation of the university’s scientific innovation platforms and group projects, helping achieve expected goals. He expressed the hope that this meeting would serve as a new starting point and catalyst for disciplinary development and team building in 2024.
Ye Xin stated in his address that the Innovative Research Group Project is characterized by a naturally formed research team collaborating on an important research direction, aiming to cultivate a research group with a significant presence at the international scientific frontier. He expressed hope that the Innovative Research Group would focus on its research direction, conduct organized and systematic research in the field of damage, fracture, and safety of high-temperature structures with greater depth, breadth, and impact, ultimately forming a scientific innovation team with broader international influence.
Professor Zhang Xiancheng, Director of the Key Laboratory of Pressure Systems and Safety (Ministry of Education), delivered a laboratory work report, summarizing the Laboratory’s basic activities in scientific research, talent cultivation, education and teaching, and open operations from 2019 to 2023, along with future development plans and prospects.
Professor Xuan Fuzhen, Principal Investigator of the Innovative Research Group Project “Damage, Fracture, and Safety of High-Temperature Structures,” presented the project implementation plan, comprehensively outlining the project’s basic information from five aspects: group formation, major innovative achievements, proposed research, supporting conditions, and expected goals.
Experts engaged in extensive and in-depth discussions on the Laboratory’s annual work report and the Innovative Research Group’s research plan and development goals from various perspectives. Through the discussions, experts unanimously agreed that the team has achieved fruitful results in research direction, talent development, and international collaboration. At the same time, they proposed new requirements for the team and the project, including coordinating innovation resources, driving industrial transformation, and strengthening collaboration with enterprises.
Academician Tu Shandong delivered a concluding speech, expressing gratitude for the experts’ support and encouraging team members to aim high, collaborate closely, and achieve mutual progress.
