Relying on the
university’s strong disciplinary foundations in mechanical engineering,
intelligent manufacturing and artificial intelligence, process equipment and
control engineering, chemistry and chemical engineering, the Institute of
Intelligent Sensing and Instruments, East China University of Science and
Technology addresses major national strategic needs and key issues in the safe
operation of high-end equipment. It is committed to basic research and
engineering applications of intelligent sensing, detection and instrument
technologies for chemical (gas, pH) and physical (mechanics, acoustics)
parameters.
The
development of the Institute stems from the long-term accumulation of relevant
disciplines at East China University of Science and Technology. Since the
establishment of Chemical Process Machinery and related majors in the 1950s,
the university has maintained sustained in-depth development in mechanical
manufacturing and automation, mechatronic engineering, mechanical engineering
and other fields. It has successively been approved for multiple degree
programs and doctoral programs, established the Key Laboratory of Pressure
System Safety under the Ministry of Education, and formed distinctive research
characteristics in process industrial equipment safety, intelligent
manufacturing engineering and other fields. Entering a new stage of scientific
and technological development, the university has closely aligned with the
development trends of intelligent manufacturing and new-generation information
technology. It has been approved to build the Shanghai Key Laboratory of
Intelligent Sensing and Detection Technology, and established the Shanghai
Research Institute for Process Intelligent Manufacturing Science and Technology
Innovation. On this basis, the Institute of Intelligent Sensing and Instruments
was founded to advance relevant research toward intelligence and
systematization.
